Creating a Product Profile

Before accepting a transfer, we recommend you first create Product profiles that the packages are linked to when accepting your transfer. You can also do this directly from the Transfers Details page, but having your profiles ready to go can make it easier and faster when accepting your transfers!

Create a New Product Profile

To create a new Product:

1. Click on Organization Settings.

2. Select Products.

3. Click the green "+" button in the top-right corner of the screen.

4. Fill out the Add New Product form. Please note that fields marked with an asterisk are required. As a best practice, we recommend you add a Supplier and Brand as this can help you when looking for specific data sets later on.

A. Product Name: Enter a Product Name that will be used to identify your product. This is a required field.

B. SKU: A unique identifier assigned to a product by you that is unique to your retail business. If you have multiple stores, a product can have the same SKU in all stores. A best practice is for you to develop a code or pattern for SKUs.

C. UPC: Short for Universal Product Code, a UPC is a registered identifier printed on the retail product packaging for a particular item. The most common is UPC-A, which consists of two parts – the machine-readable barcode and the unique 12-digit number beneath it. UPC codes are placed on products by the manufacturer. Therefore, if multiple retailers sell the same product, it will have the same UPC code.

D. Product Category: Select a Product Category to be associated with this product profile. This is a required field.

E. No Inventory: Enable this setting to indicate the product is a non-physical item, such as a delivery fee.

F. Supplier: Select a Supplier for the product. You can also create a Supplier from here.

G. Brand: Select a Brand for the product. You can also create a Brand from here.

H. Tags: Add a tag to the product. This can be very helpful for sales and specials. Click the links below for more information on Tags:

I. Not Discountable: Enable this setting to make the product ineligible for discounts.

If this setting is enabled and the product is placed into an order, regardless of what else is in the order, an order discount will not be allowed.

J. Label Text: If you have enabled Product Text from Store Settings > Print, then you will see the Label Text field on the product profile. Enter any messaging here that you would like to include on your labels.

5. Select the Unit of Measure for the Product. If the Unit of Measure is Each (individual pre-packed items) you will need to indicate the Unit Weight and its UOM. Please enter the Net Weight if required by your state.

A. Unit of Measure: This setting indicates if the product is being sold in units of Each (individual pre-packaged items) or if the product is being sold in Grams (deli-style products like bulk flower).

B. Unit Weight: The Unit Weight is the total MJ weight of your product. For example, a 1g pre-roll would have a Unit Weight of 1g. Enter the Unit Weight for your product and select the Unit Weight UOM from the drop-down menu.

C. Net Weight: The Net Weight is the total weight of your product. For example, a 1g pre-roll that weighs 1.2g with additional materials (paper, tip, etc.) would have a Net Weight of 1.2g. Enter the Net Weight for your product and select the Net Weight UOM from the drop-down menu.

D. Strain: Select a Strain for the product.

E. Turn on Is Sample if this product is a sample.

6. Select the Pricing Type and input the price of the product. If you are using Tiered Pricing, select the Pricing Group you would like to assign to the product.

A. Pricing Type: Select if you would like to use Simple or Tiered pricing. Simple pricing is a single set price for the product, versus Tiered pricing which is a set of prices that changes based on the total amount the customer is buying.

B. Post-Tax/Pre-Tax Price (Per Item): If you are using Inclusive pricing, this field will indicate the Post-Tax Price of the item. If you are using Non-Inclusive pricing, this field will indicate the Pre-Tax price of the item.

C. Medical Patient Price: If you are a Med/Rec location, you can enter a separate price point on the product for your Medical customers.

7. If you would like to set a separate price for the product at one or more of your locations, you can add a Store Override to set a new price that will only be applied at the selected location.

8. In the Menu Info section, you can add information to the product that will be shown on your connected online menus. You also have the option to upload an image for the product that will be displayed on your connected online menus.

A. Menu Name: Enter the name of the product as you would like it to appear on any connected online menus.

B. Menu Description: Enter a description for the product that will be shown on any connected online menus.

C. Menu Image: Add an image of the product to be displayed on any connected online menus.

Tips for Creating a Product Profile

  • When creating a Product Name, try to stay consistent while also including some details to easily be able to differentiate the Product. For example, Dutch Treat Bulk, Dutch Treat 1g, Dutch Treat 3.5g, Vape - Dutch Treat .5g, Vape - Dutch Treat 1g.

  • If the item being sold is prepackaged, please select Each as the unit of measurement. Enter a Unit Weight for the package, and again select the correct UOM - grams, milligrams, or ounces.

  • Pricing Type is how the total will be calculated. Simple Pricing is sold at the price entered into this field. “Tiered Pricing” is mostly used for deli-style and allows customers to mix and match products while still getting price breaks when they hit a certain weight.
