An in-depth look at pricing groups

Pricing Groups (Tiered pricing) are a great way to encourage your customers to purchase larger amounts of your product by giving them a price break at pre-defined weights. You can even set it up so customers can mix and match products, or you can limit it to just certain products.

As you'll notice, the price per gram is reduced with each tier. So while the price per gram will be lower with large purchases, it's a great selling point to encourage customers to purchase more with each visit.

You can still sell weights outside of the tiered pricing list. Let's say you sell 4 grams — it will still be in the price bracket of 3.5 grams at $8.57 per gram, but once you sell 7 grams or over, it changes to $7.86 per gram.

How to Add a Pricing Group (Tiered Pricing)

To add a new pricing group:

1. Click on Organization Settings.

2. Select Pricing Groups.

3. Click the green "+" button in the top-right corner of the screen.

Configuring a Pricing Group (Tiered Pricing)

1. Name: Give the Pricing Group a name that indicates what type of product this group will be associated with (e.g. "Top Shelf" for top-tier flower).

2. Pricing Group Type: Select the Pricing Group Type. There are four types to choose from: Standard, Do Not Combine, Laddered, and "Jungle" Style.

  • Standard Pricing combines the weight of items with the same pricing group to give a discount at certain tiers based on the total weight of the pricing group.

  • Do Not Combine stops tiered products from affecting each other's price. For example, when Do Not Combine is enabled, if you add two eights to an order, they will be the price of two individual eightths instead of a quarter.

  • Laddered pricing will only combine items of the same pricing group if the weight of the items combined is at an exact tier. For example, one 7-gram item, one 3.5-gram item, and one 1-gram item will all be priced at their own tier since the weights added together do not equal a tier.

  • Jungle Style behaves exactly like Laddered pricing (does not combine items unless the weight equals an exact tier) except it will not combine 1-gram items until the total weight of 1-gram items equals 28 grams. DO NOT use this option unless you are sure what it does!

3. Weigh Heavy Amount: Enter a Weigh Heavy amount. Weigh heavy is specific to bulk product that is sold in "deli style" instead of pre-packaged. Adding a weigh-heavy amount allows you to weigh over the amount of the tier. For example, if your weigh-heavy is 0.1 grams, the price of 1 gram will be the same price as 1.1 grams.

4. Pricing: - Enter the price for each tier. The available weight tiers are 1 gram, 3.5 grams (an eighth), 7 grams (a quarter), 14 grams (a half ounce), and 28 grams (an ounce).

5. If you'd like to offer different pricing options for medical patients, flip the Medical Pricing toggle on. You'll see a separate list of weights to create pricing specifically for patients. This is not required.

6. If you'd like to offer different pricing options for members, flip the Member Pricing toggle on. You'll see a separate list of weights to create pricing specifically for members. This is not required.

Once everything is filled out, click Save & Close.

Assigning Pricing Groups to Products

Once you've created a pricing group, you'll need to assign it to your products. To do this, navigate to Inventory > Products, select the product to assign the group to, and click the Edit icon (the pencil) in the top-right corner. You can also assign a group when creating a new product.

From there, select the Tiered radio button and select the pricing group from the dropdown menu. Then, click Save & Close.
